Clandestine oil deal with American firm haunts Somalia
WASHINGTON- An oil dispute between an American firm and the federal government of Somalia has turned out to be a ticking bomb, just months after Mogadishu nullified it after the details came into the public domain, causing anxiety in the country.
In February, the government signed an oil exploration agreement with Coastline Exploration Ltd in Instabul, Turkey. Still, that deal would be abandoned after it emerged that proper procedures were ignored by those who pushed for the agreement.
